Experience

Jennifer Wu received her Masters of Science in Social Work in 2002 from the University of Texas at Austin.  She has had over 20 years of experience providing DBT individual and group therapy in Austin, Texas.  Jennifer's prior experience includes Seton Shoal Creek Hospital providing group therapy, Cedar Springs Eating Disorder Clinic providing DBT groups, and private practice.  Jennifer was intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in 2008 through Behavioral Tech and has provided DBT skills groups for the past 15 years in private practice.  She has been a member of the first DBT consultation team established in Austin, DBT Associates of Austin, since 2007.

In her private practice, Jennifer leads four DBT Skills groups and one RODBT Skills group (designed for clients with anxiety, avoidant, and overcontrol behaviors) each week.  Also, she has created eight DBT Advanced groups for clients who want to engage in using higher level DBT curriculum to obtain long term therapy with a low level of care to decrease vulnerability into falling into destructive patterns of behaviors and increase quality of life issues.   Her constant interactions with clients at all stages of treatment gives her a wide range of knowledge and understanding about common issues people are struggling with and how to use DBT coping skills to make long-lasting progress.
